Russia launched the fourth Elektro-L meteorological satellite into orbit

Hydrometeorological satellite “Electro-L” No. 4 was launched into orbit, the press service of Roscosmos reported in Telegram channel. The satellite was launched from Baikonur on a Proton-M rocket with upper stage DM-03 today, February 5, at 12:12 Moscow time.

The Elektro-L satellite makes it possible to receive independent weather data from the Earth’s orbit every 15–30 minutes, which increases the effectiveness of weather forecasts and allows timely issuance of storm and emergency messages when emergencies are detected, follows from a press release from the agency.

In 2023 Roscosmos plans to launch eight more satellites designed to observe the earth’s surface. We are talking about the following spacecraft: “Kondor-FKA” No. 1, “Obzor-R” No. 1, “Resurs-P” No. 4, two Meteor-M vehicles No. 2.3-2.4, two satellites “Ionosphere” No. 1 -2 and Arktika-M No. 2.
