Iran, Russia and China plan to hold joint naval exercises this fall, Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Bagheri said at a press conference at the parade of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mehr News reported.

“The exercises with the participation of the Iranian, Russian and Chinese navies will be held in the northern part of the Indian Ocean this autumn,” he said (cit. according to TASS). Bagheri also pointed to the possibility of participation of Pakistan, Oman and several other states in the exercises.

Earlier this week, Russia and China agreed on the continuation of interaction between the ministries of defense and the strengthening of military and military-technical cooperation against the backdrop of concern over US activities. It is specified that the emphasis will be placed on joint exercises and patrols.
