Russia has become the number one country in terms of investment in Iran

According to the results of the 2022 financial year in Iran, which ended on March 22, Russia became the leader in investments in this country: in monetary terms, they amounted to $2.76 billion. This is almost 2/3 of all foreign investments in the Iranian economy ($4.18 billion). This was announced to the Financial Times on March 23 by Iranian Finance Minister Ehsan Khanduzi. Compared to the 2021 fiscal year, foreign investment in the country has grown by almost 4 times. In the last reporting period, according to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), they reached only $1.425 billion.
The fact that Moscow is the largest investor in the Iranian economy was stated in January 2023 by Iranian Deputy Economy Minister Ali Fekri. According to him, since August 2021, when the government of President Ibrahim Raisi came to power, Russia has made the largest amount of investment in Iran.
