Russia allocates $1.5 billion to Belarus for import substitution


Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk said that a decision had been made to provide Belarus with a $1.5 billion loan for import substitution.

“Yes, all decisions have been made. Either we have signed, or we are about to sign,” Mr. Overchuk told RIA Novosti on the sidelines of the Caspian Economic Forum in Moscow. “In principle, all the parameters of the agreement have been agreed upon. $1.5 billion for projects that will be related to import substitution and the development of relevant industries,” he added.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko informed about Moscow's plans to allocate $1.5 billion to Minsk for import substitution in June. According to him, these projects will be in demand both in the Russian Federation and in Belarus. In early September, Mr. Lukashenko said that in total Moscow highlight Minsk about $2 billion for joint projects in this area.
