Rospotrebnadzor: the spread of monkeypox in Russia was avoided


The patient, who was diagnosed with a second case of monkeypox in Russia on September 8, was discharged from a hospital in St. Petersburg. Thanks to anti-epidemic measures, “the spread of the disease was avoided,” the patient is not contagious, Rospotrebnadzor in St. Petersburg told reporters.

The disease was diagnosed in a Russian after a trip to Europe. The first case was also identified in St. Petersburg on July 12. Then, too, it was about a tourist who returned after a European trip.

According to WHO as of September 22, a total of 64.5 thousand cases of infection were registered in the world. The largest number was found in the USA (36 thousand) and Europe (24.2 thousand).
