Roskomnadzor blocked SoundCloud due to “fakes about the special operation”

Roskomnadzor, at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, blocked the site of the streaming platform SoundCloud. The first messages about the blocking appeared late in the evening on October 1, at that time the mobile application of the service continued to work.
Initially, the reason for blocking was the presence on the site of calls for riots and extremism, as well as for participation in unauthorized actions.
At the same time, on the morning of October 2, Roskomnadzor told RIA Novosti that the reason for restricting access to the service was “fakes about a special operation” in Ukraine. The department indicated that the RKN twice sent requests to the owner of the resource to remove prohibited information, but the owner did not take action. In case of removal of information prohibited in the Russian Federation, the resource can be unlocked, the department added.
