The former mayor of Yekaterinburg, Yevgeny Roizman, refused to testify in a criminal case on discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. On Wednesday, September 21, the ex-mayor's lawyer Vladislav Idamzhapov told reporters.

“You can say so,” he answered a direct question about whether Roizman refused to testify in the case.

Recall that the ex-mayor of Yekaterinburg was detained on August 24, initially for 48 hours. Then the court considered the petition of the investigation to elect him a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions, it was about house arrest. On the eve of Wednesday, September 20, the Verkh-Isetsky District Court of the capital of the Sverdlovsk Region explained that Yevgeny Roizman. it is forbidden to visit places where public events are held, which include rallies, pickets, meetings, processions.

A criminal case against the ex-mayor of Yekaterinburg was initiated under part 1 of article 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the RF Armed Forces”), which provides for up to three years in prison. The basis for the start of the proceedings was a video published on Roizman's YouTube channel. According to the materials of the investigation, on July 1, live on video hosting, the ex-mayor, “wanting to destabilize the situation and shape public opinion, used negative terms to describe the special operation” that Russia is conducting in Ukraine.
