Recall that on February 28 it became known that the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) suspended the Russian national team, as well as all domestic sports clubs from participating in competitions controlled by these organizations. They were not even allowed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. In the fall, it became known that the Russian team would not take part in the draw for the European Championship, which will be held in 2024. Accordingly, the Russian team will miss the upcoming tournament in Germany.
Earlier, coach Anatoly Byshovets listed the reasons why the Russian Football Union (RFU) should not move from UEFA to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). He asked to realistically assess the chances of this step and pointed to the high costs of the clubs if such a decision is made. According to Byshovets, not everyone can afford such expenses.
