RIA Novosti: Russia has increased the production of shells to destroy NATO tanks

In 2022, the enterprises of the Russian defense industry have significantly increased the production of Krasnopol guided artillery shells, effective against Abrams and Leopard tanks, the supply of which to Ukraine was previously announced by Western countries, reported RIA Novosti, citing a source.

“In 2022, Russian defense enterprises increased the production of Krasnopol high-precision guided artillery shells of 152 mm caliber for barreled artillery howitzers by several times. In particular, these shells can be successfully used to destroy NATO Abrams and Leopard tanks, which should be delivered to Ukraine,” he said.

It is noted that the maximum firing range of these shells is 25 km, the deviation from the aiming line does not exceed two meters.

On January 25, Germany and the United States announced the delivery of 14 Leopard 2 tanks and 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Kyiv. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius specified that the first German military equipment would arrive in Ukraine in late March or early April. Poland, Finland, Norway, Portugal, Spain and the Netherlands also announced plans to transfer tanks to Kyiv. In addition, Great Britain is going to send its Challenger 2 to Ukraine.

In January, the Kremlin said that the supply of tanks to Kyiv would not change the situation, but would “add problems” for Ukraine. Later, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov stressed that the Leopard and Abrams tanks, which the West is going to transfer to Ukraine, will burn down in the same way as the rest of Western military equipment.
