Permanent representatives of the European Union (EU) have agreed on a price ceiling for Russian oil products. As a result, the ceiling will be at $100 per barrel for oil traded at a premium, and $45 per barrel for non-oil products, which are traded at a discount. This is reported by Reuters, citing diplomats.

It is worth noting that earlier the US Treasury reported that the United States had agreed to introduce two price ceilings for Russian oil products. According to preliminary information, it is planned to limit the price of oil from Russia in February, when European countries will completely refuse to purchase, and will also prohibit their transportation by sea.

Western oil sanctions came into effect on December 5, 2022. After the introduction of the restriction, the EU refused to accept oil from Russia, which is transported by sea, and the G7 countries, Australia and the European Union imposed a price limit on Russian oil products when transported by sea at the level of $60 per barrel.
