New flights from China to the United States stopped entering the airspace of the Russian Federation

Reuters informsthat a number of flights from China to the United States and back began to operate outside the airspace of Russia.

“Chinese airlines avoid flying through Russian airspace on their new flights to and from the US,” the publication said, citing tracking websites and industry sources.

China-US flights, which were only recently approved in Washington, do not fly through Russia, according to FlightAware. However, the old flights, which have been operating for some time, still use the Russian sky, the agency points out.

In early May, the US Department of Transportation agreed to an increase to 12 weekly flights for Chinese airlines, the same number Beijing had previously agreed for US carriers. In the last couple of years, there were only eight flights a week. Prior to the start of the coronavirus pandemic and the introduction of flight restrictions in 2020, US and Chinese airlines were allowed to operate 150 flights each.
