The Red Wings airline will lease four Tu-204/214 aircraft in the next two years, two sources close to the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec) told Vedomosti. According to them, after undergoing repairs, one Tu-204 and one Tu-214 will be transferred to the airline in the spring of 2023. Another Tu-204 and Tu-214 Red Wings will receive in the spring of 2024, Vedomosti’s interlocutors said.
According to one of them, it is necessary to perform a form of maintenance on aircraft, then replace or extend the life of the units. “The specified terms are not taken from the ceiling. We understand that by the spring of 2023 we will be able to make two aircraft, but we will definitely not have time to make two more aircraft. Because an overhaul of the engine is needed, and these are long-term positions, ”explained a source close to the UAC. According to him, the overhaul of the engine takes about nine months.
