Quarterly sales of Tesla electric vehicles increased for the first time in a year - Kommersant
Today, October 2, Tesla published data on production and sales of electric vehicles in the third quarter. During this period, 469.5 thousand electric vehicles were produced - 9% more than a year earlier. The number of electric vehicles sold increased by 6.4%, amounting to 462.9 thousand. This is the first quarterly increase in Tesla sales since the beginning of the year. This quarterly figure was approximately at the level of analysts' forecasts.
Tesla shares today, October 2, fell by 3.7%. Moreover, over the past month they have grown by 18% on expectations of improvement in the company’s performance. In the first quarter, sales of its electric vehicles decreased for the first time since 2020. The company still expects to sell more vehicles this year than the 1.8 million it sold in 2023. In the first three quarters of 2024, Tesla sold nearly 1.3 million electric vehicles.
Tesla will publish full financial statements for the third quarter on October 23.
