Putin signed laws on the adoption of new territories

Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the ratification of agreements on the admission of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions into Russia. He also signed four relevant federal constitutional laws.

According to the laws, the DPR and LPR will enter within the borders “established by the constitutions of the republics on the day of their formation and on the day they are accepted into the Russian Federation.” The “limits of the territories” of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions are determined by their borders on the day of joining Russia. In the Kremlin spokethat the DPR and LPR will enter within the borders of 2014, and the borders of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions will be determined after Russia “consults with the population.”

The DPR and LPR within Russia will retain the status of republics and their former names. Kherson and Zaporozhye regions will remain regions.
