Putin signed a law criminalizing the illegal sale of weapons to foreigners



Russian President Vladimir Putin signed law, according to which the violator faces criminal liability for the illegal export or transfer of military goods, technologies and weapons to foreign citizens. Corresponding changes have been made to Art. 189 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

It is clarified that for the commission of this crime, a citizen can receive a prison term of 3 to 7 years with a fine of up to 1 million rubles or in the amount of wages or other income for a period of up to 5 years. For the same acts committed by a group of persons by prior agreement or using their official position, they face a penalty of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years with a similar fine.

In case of violation of this law by an organized group of persons, they face a penalty of imprisonment for a term of 7 to 12 years with a fine of up to 1 million rubles.
