Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree establishing a new state award – the medal “For Courage” I and II degrees.

The regulation on the award states that the medal will be awarded to citizens of the Russian Federation, foreign citizens and stateless persons “for bravery and courage shown in the course of combat and other operations to defend the Fatherland”, state interests, to maintain or restore the security of international peace.

The regulation notes that the award may be made posthumously. In the list of medals of the Russian Federation, this award will be the third and will follow the medal of the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland” and the medal “For Courage”.
