Russian citizens are not so easy to fool with misinformation and fakes, President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with the governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov, who spoke about the information war of the Ukrainian side against the inhabitants of the region.

“Our people are not so easy to fool – given the nature,” – sure Russian president (quoted by TASS)

“Then tanks are coming tomorrow, Belgorod will be captured tomorrow, tomorrow they will be bombarded with shells, bombs, run!”, the Belgorod governor gave examples of fake information. At the same time, Gladkov noted that if in the first months of the special military operation the inhabitants of the Belgorod region were not prepared for this, now people understand how to distinguish truth from lies.

In November 2022, Putin at a meeting with mothers of servicemen declaredthat today the Internet is a space for fakes and information attacks, nothing can be trusted there. The President added that this has always been the case, but against the backdrop of the development of modern technologies, the problem has become much more acute.

Vladimir Putin has repeatedly criticized the consequences of the ubiquity of the Internet. So, in the spring of 2021, he declaredthat the global network is capable of destroying society from the inside, if it is not subject to moral laws. Then the president noted that on the Internet one can encounter calls for participation in illegal street actions, child pornography and prostitution, drug distribution, where the target audience is also minors. In all these examples, children are used as a source of income.
