Putin replaced the governor of the Smolensk region

Vasily Anokhin, who was previously Deputy Governor of the Smolensk Region Alexei Ostrovsky, was appointed acting Governor of the Smolensk Region - he resigned of his own free will and was relieved of his post by the same decree.

Vasily Anokhin left the post of Deputy Governor of the Smolensk Region at his own request in 2018. In January 2021, he became head of the government's regional development department. Vasily Anokhin was also Deputy Head of the Secretariat of Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.

“Vasily Nikolayevich, you really have a very good experience of working in the government of the Russian Federation, and in such important areas as housing and communal services, construction, and recently you are the director of the regional development department of the government of the Russian Federation. And of course, I really hope that all this knowledge, and, frankly, good contacts in the Russian government with colleagues will allow you to effectively solve the problems facing the region,” said President Vladimir Putin.

Alexey Ostrovsky served as Acting Governor of the Smolensk Region from 2012 to 2015, and then as Governor.

March 15 Vladimir Putin appointed acting head of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug Vladislav Kuznetsov, who previously was the first deputy chairman of the government of the LPR and vice-governor of the Kurgan region.
