Russian President Vladimir Putin presented the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the Order of Alexander Nevsky for his great services in strengthening friendship and cooperation between the countries. The ceremony of presenting the high Russian award took place on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Samarkand.

The corresponding decree was signed by the Russian leader in July this year.

“I am sincerely glad to present a high state award, the Order of Alexander Nevsky,” said the head of the Russian state. “This order is awarded to leaders of foreign countries for their great contribution to strengthening friendly ties with Russia.” Putin also noted the attention of the leader of Uzbekistan to the development of bilateral relations.

In Tashkent, the awarding of Mirziyoyev with the Order of the Russian Federation was regarded as international recognition of his initiatives.
