Putin extended the deadline for submitting the draft budget to parliament

The deadline for submitting the draft budget for 2023–2025 to the State Duma has been postponed from September 15 to October 1. The relevant law was signed today, September 24, by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Document published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

The law will allow the government to submit a draft law “On the federal budget for 2023 and for the planning period of 2024 and 2025” for consideration and approval by the State Duma no later than October 1.

The explanatory note to the relevant bill explained that such a measure should be taken “taking into account the peculiarities of planning budget allocations for the implementation of measures related to preventing the impact of changes in the geopolitical situation and the deterioration of the economic situation on the development of economic sectors and the financial sector.”

Previously, according to the law, the draft three-year budget had to be submitted before September 15. In 2022, the government proposed changing the deadline for submission to the State Duma until October 1.
