Putin at a meeting with Tokayev: Russia will reorient exports and imports to new markets

Russian President Vladimir Putin holds talks in Moscow with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. At the meeting, he said that international trade is in crisis and Russia is reorienting its exports and imports to new markets.

“Particular attention is paid to the development of a joint transport and logistics infrastructure, the removal of restrictions that hinder trade and investment exchanges. This is especially true now, when international trade is in crisis. With this in mind, Russia is implementing large-scale measures to reorient its export-import operations to new markets,” the President of Russia said (quoted by TASS).

Mr. Tokayev's trip to Moscow is the first foreign visit of the President of Kazakhstan since re-election for a new seven-year term on November 22 of the current year. At the meeting, Vladimir Putin once again congratulated the head of Kazakhstan on his victory in the elections and wished him success in implementing plans for reforms in the political and socio-economic life of the country.

The President of Russia stressed that the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan have broad prospects for joint work in various industries, including high-tech ones. According to him, Russia remains the largest investor in Kazakhstan. "The total amount of Russian capital investment is almost $17 billion. More than 30 major investment projects are being implemented jointly in all key sectors of the economy without exception," Mr. Putin said.
