Russian President Vladimir Putin and UN Secretary General António Guterres held a telephone conversation during which they discussed the situation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, a mission to investigate the incident at the Yelenovka pre-trial detention center and a grain deal.

“We discussed the issues of the prisoners, the fact-finding mission. And the fact-finding mission will be able to go to the zone where so many prisoners died. From the Russian side, there will be no obstacles to her trip, no matter which way we decide to get there, ”said the UN Secretary General (quoted from “RIA News”).

According to a post on site The Kremlin, the parties agreed to continue to “work closely” in order to meet the grain needs of the states of Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. As for the Zaporizhzhya NPP, Mr. Putin “gave a positive assessment” of cooperation with the IAEA and spoke about the plant’s safety measures.

On July 29, an explosion occurred in pre-trial detention center No. 120 in Yelenovka, which killed 50 Ukrainian prisoners of war and injured 73. The Zaporizhia NPP has been shelled in recent weeks. However, as António Guterres said at a press conference of the UN General Assembly, there were no shellings in the last three days. The deal on the export of grain from the ports of Ukraine in the Black Sea was concluded on July 22.
