The first qualifying round of the Open Olympiad for School Students in Programming has started in the capital, organized by the Moscow Department of Education and Science, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Lomonosov Moscow State University, and the Center for Pedagogical Excellence.

The qualifying round will last until January 15. Competitors will be asked to solve nine problems in one of the popular programming languages, such as C++. The peculiarity of the tour is that in order to complete the tasks, students will have to write a program code, the performance of which will be checked by an automatic testing system.

The best participants of the qualifying round will be invited to a short round, where the guys will have to solve four tasks of increased complexity.

According to the head coach of the Moscow team in computer science at the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren Elena Andreeva, the Open Olympiad in programming is one of the most prestigious and authoritative competitions in computer science.

– Competition missions are known for their unique style and increased difficulty. It is important to understand that in order to win a competition of this level, a child needs not only to be interested in the subject, but also to put a lot of effort into training and classes, – said Elena Andreeva.

Prize-winners and winners of both rounds will be invited to the face-to-face final, where they will also have to solve programming problems.

The open Olympiad for schoolchildren in programming has been held since 2002. The competition is included in the first level of the List of subject school Olympiads, which give their winners and prize-winners benefits when entering universities.
