Priest of the Russian Orthodox Church fined for discrediting the Russian army

The Slavyansk City Court of the Krasnodar Territory found a local resident Viktor Pivovarov guilty of discrediting the armed forces of the Russian Federation, he was sentenced to a fine of 40 thousand rubles, the judicial act is posted on court website.
Victor Pivovarov is the Archbishop of Slavic and South Russian Orthodox Church (RosPTs), which is an alternative to the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate).
As follows from the judicial act, on February 19, 2023, RosPTs priest Viktor Pivovarov, while in the building of the temple in the city of Slavyansk-on-Kuban, “performed public actions through statements aimed at discrediting the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in order to protect the interests of the Russian Federation and its citizens.” Viktor Pivovarov admitted his guilt in committing an administrative offense.
