Popova announced an intensive decrease in the incidence of coronavirus

The incidence of COVID-19 and other respiratory viral infections has been rapidly declining in Russia for the second week in a row, said Anna Popova, head of Rospotrebnadzor. According to her, the coronavirus this fall is behaving like “seasonal respiratory viruses that are quite familiar to us.”

Ms. Popova reported that COVID-19 intensified after September 7–10. She noted that the rise in respiratory infections in September is annually due to the fact that at this time collectives gather - industrial, school, student. “And this year, covid just developed with this wave by date, and for the second week we are seeing a fairly intense decrease in the incidence, like all other respiratory viral infections,” said the head of Rospotrebnadzor TASS.

Anna Popova hopes that COVID-19 will continue to behave like seasonal respiratory viruses in the future and will not receive dangerous mutations. She noted that now it is necessary to have time to vaccinate the population against influenza, given the expected rise in the incidence. “And in the event of a weakening state of health, of course, in public places, in crowded places, it is recommended to wear a mask,” she added.

In Russia, as of October 1, 33 thousand infections were detected over the past day. In mid-September, the incidence was at the level of 59 thousand. Over the past day, 103 people have died.
