Western countries are trying to prevent the development of the crisis

At the end of September, the media reported that the European Commission was considering easing a number of sanctions against Russia, in particular lifting the ban on the transportation of Russian fertilizers, cement and “other products.” The head of the Political Expert Group, Konstantin Kalachev, considered the actions of the EC predictable and named a possible reason for easing sanctions.

In an interview with Lenta.ruKalachev explained that the possible lifting of the ban on the export of fertilizers is connected with the “perfectly clear and understandable” concern of the European Union with the topic of food security. The political scientist clarified that this concerns a possible crisis in the food market and possible famine in some underdeveloped countries.

As the expert noted, Europe has always been jointly and severally responsible for the situation in the same African countries receiving humanitarian assistance, especially since the topic of fertilizers has been raised more than once.

Kalachev added that the solution of food problems depends on the yield, and the health and lives of people directly depend on the solution of food problems. Nevertheless, the political scientist concluded that the lifting of this ban would still not solve the problem of Russia’s isolation from the West.
