Poland threatened to boycott the 2024 Olympics with the participation of Russians and Belarusians

Poland should boycott the 2024 Olympics if athletes from Russia and Belarus participate in them. This was announced by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation of Poland Pavel Yablonsky.

“If athletes from Belarus and Russia are allowed to the 2024 Olympics, we should boycott the Games. This is the pressure that we must exert on the IOC, ”said Mr. Yablonsky on the air of the radio station RMF FM.

He also strongly condemned the efforts of the IOC to return Russians and Belarusians to the Olympics under a neutral flag.

“If there is some money behind it, it is worthy of the highest condemnation. But even if they weren’t there, making such a decision is not only a crime, it’s a mistake, ”said Pavel Yablonsky.

According to him, if the “moral qualities of sports activists” were evaluated, then in many cases “they would be, to put it mildly, not the highest.”

25 January IOC Executive Board allowed the return of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions without the right to represent their states. It was proposed to allow only those athletes who did not support Russia’s actions in the special operation.

Ministries of Sports of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland turned to the IOC with a call to prevent athletes from Russia and Belarus from participating in international competitions. Countries opposed even the participation of athletes in a neutral status. Ukraine accused The IOC is bribed by Russia and has also announced a possible boycott.
