The Pipe Industry Development Fund (FRTP, a lobby of large industry producers) suggested that the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Industry and Trade work out the issue of organizing pipe purchases for the Russian gasification program in large lots under long-term contracts. This was told to Vedomosti by three sources familiar with the development of the initiative. According to the fund, such purchases can be made through a single federal operator of the gasification program, which is the structure of Gazprom, Gazprom Gazifikatsiya, or regional operators.

Director of the FRTP Alexander Semenchishin proposed the centralization of pipe purchases at a meeting of the coordinating council of the metallurgical industry at the Ministry of Industry and Trade in early November, one of Vedomosti’s interlocutors clarifies. The proposal was also sent to the Ministry of Energy, two sources say.
