The situation with the shelling of the territory of the Belgorod region cannot influence the course of the special operation in Ukraine. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

“No, of course, this cannot have any effect on the course of the military operation, but due to the nuances, I am not authorized to say anything here,” he said.

Peskov also noted the "active, selfless" work of the regional authorities. According to a Kremlin spokesman, Russian President Vladimir Putin is "in constant working contact" with them.

The shelling of the Belgorod region has become more frequent in recent days. May 31, Governor of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov announced on the evacuation of children from the Shebekinsky and Grayvoronsky districts. On May 31, the first 300 children left for Voronezh. Today, June 1, another 200 people will be transported to Penza, June 3, 600 people will be sent to Kaluga and Yaroslavl, he specified.

Earlier today, Gladkov reported on the massive shelling by the Armed Forces of the Shebekinsky District. As a result suffered eight people, there were no casualties, he said. The governor stressed that the enemy did not penetrate the territory of the region.

Later in the Ministry of Defense reportedthat on June 1, the Russian Armed Forces prevented an attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to commit a terrorist attack near the city of Shebekino. The enemy made an attempt to break into the territory of the Belgorod region in the area of ​​Novaya Tavolzhanka and the Shebekino international automobile checkpoint. The Russian military repelled all three attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, pushing the enemy back from the Russian border, the department stressed.

The day before, May 31, Peskov declaredthat the Kremlin is concerned about the "rather alarming situation" with the shelling of civilian targets in the Belgorod region. He noted that measures are being taken to ensure security in the region.

In the Belgorod region, a high ("yellow") level of terrorist danger is indefinitely. Since October 19, 2022, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation, the average level of response has been set in the region. The same regime operates in seven other subjects of the Russian Federation - Crimea, Sevastopol, Krasnodar Territory, Kursk, Voronezh, Bryansk and Rostov regions.
