Peskov explained why Shoigu did not accompany Putin during his trip to Tuva
Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu was not present when President Vladimir Putin visited Tuva on September 2, despite the fact that the republic is his small homeland. This was reported by the head of state's press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
According to Dmitry Peskov, Sergei Shoigu did not always accompany the president during his visits to Tuva. "The president did visit there for short rest stops. Shoigu accompanied him at times, and at other times he did not," the Kremlin spokesman noted during a conversation with journalists.
Dmitry Peskov clarified that the president's current trip was a working one, and Sergei Shoigu's sphere of activity had changed. This explains his absence from the presidential delegation.
Vladimir Putin visited Tuva on September 2. There he held an open lesson "Conversations about the Important", a meeting on the development of the republic, and then visited the Kyzyl Presidential Cadet School and the Buddhist monastery "Thubten Shedrub Ling". Before that, Vladimir Putin visited Tuva in 2018. Then the head of state was accompanied by the then Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu, as well as FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov and former head of the republic Sholban Kara-ool. In 2017, when Vladimir Putin was on vacation in Tuva, he was also accompanied by Mr. Shoigu.
