Pedersen wins the 13th stage in the sprint, Evenepoel remains in red

The Danish rider of the Trek Segafredo formation Mads Pedersen won the 13th stage of the Tour of Spain in Montilla in a sprint on Friday, at the end of a flat and calm day, which saw the Belgian Remco Evenepoel keep his overall leader’s red jersey. Pedersen won ahead of French Cofidis sprinter Bryan Coquard, second, and German UAE team Pascal Ackermann, third.

Three times second and unfortunate on the line during the 2nd, 3rd and 4th stages, the 2019 road world champion finally grabs a stage victory on this 2022 Spanish loop. Three men made up the breakaway of the day: Julius van den Berg (EF Education), Ander Okamika (Burgos BH) and Joan Bou (Euskaltel-Euskadi) went out from the start, and were caught 9.5 kilometers from the line.

Evenepoel well recovered from his fall

The general classification remains unchanged: Remco Evenepoel (Quick-Step) remains the leader with 2 minutes and 41 seconds ahead of his first pursuer, the three-time Slovenian title holder Primoz Roglic. “Everything is fine.
