Representatives of the NOCs of Ukraine and Sweden were banned from making political statements. They tried to oppose the admission of delegates from Russia and Belarus to the seminar of the European Olympic Committees (EOC).

In his speech, the executive director of the Swedish Olympic Committee, Peter Reinebo, tried to ban the participation of Russians and Belarusians, referring to a joint statement by the NOCs of Sweden, Denmark, Finland and a number of states. “Sorry, discussions about Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and other things that have political overtones, we are not going to discuss,” – quotes the head of the EOC Spyros Kapralos Inside the Games.

Representative of the NOC of Ukraine Alla Tarasyuk also tried to speak out against the participation of Russian and Belarusian delegates at the seminar. But she was stopped by the co-host of the ceremony, Olympic silver medalist in water polo Stavrula Kozompoli.

The EOC Seminar takes place in Greece from 30 September to 1 October
