We continue to publish abridged archival materials of Moskovskaya Pravda, which provide a unique opportunity to look into our already distant past.

2 October

The dismantling of buildings on Mokhovaya is carried out at an accelerated pace. Now the largest building opposite the 1st Moscow State University is being dismantled. The disassembly of this hull will be completed on October 5th. The entire left side of Mokhovaya, up to Okhotny Ryad, will be demolished on October 24th. The width of this street will be aligned with the width of Okhotny Ryad. The entire cleared area will be asphalted. By November 7, columns of demonstrators will have a wide path to Red Square. In the future, a large square will be laid out along Mokhovaya.

The academic year in the higher institutions of Moscow has begun. The total number of students reached 220 thousand people (technical colleges, universities, technical schools and workers’ faculties). Of this number, 60 thousand people study on the job.

October 3

A large alley of large trees will be planted in the autumn on the central territory of the Park of Culture and Leisure, which is still insufficiently landscaped. 50 thousand climbing plants are planted along the fences of the park. In total, 20,000 shrubs, 50,000 bulbous plants and 42,000 flowering perennials will be planted in the park in autumn.

Driveways are being widened at points of the busiest traffic. To this end, the trust for the demolition of old buildings in the coming days begins to dismantle the Nikolsky and Ilyinsky gates. After the dismantling of buildings on Mokhovaya is completed, the demolition of old houses near the Pokrovsky Gates and Zemlyanoy Val, which interfere with traffic, will begin.

Winter subscriptions are issued by the park. Gorky for the 1932-33 season. There is every opportunity to be ahead

Trekhgornaya Manufactory joined the review. A review committee has been appointed. The Znamya Trekhgorka newspaper appealed to all the brigades and shock workers of the factory with an appeal to actively participate in the review in order to come to the 15th anniversary of October with the full implementation of the 10-month program.

The newspaper writes: “Trekhgorka has every opportunity to be in the forefront of this review. The results of work for September and the first days of October indicate that the factory can take on a faster pace than planned.”

Soon a new type of tram cars will appear on the streets of Moscow. These wagons are much more spacious than the existing ones. Instead of 20 seats, they will have 32. During the movement of the car, the doors and the footboard will automatically close. The Mytishchi plant has already begun production of a new type of railcar.

October 9

The construction of the town of artists began on the territory of Upper Maslovka. Within two years, a quarter of wooden houses that are in direct contact with Petrovsky Park will be demolished. Currently, a seven-story building of art workshops and an eight-story residential building are already under construction. The town will be equipped with an exhibition pavilion and an artists’ club. According to the plan, construction should be completed in 1938.

October 10

Today is the launch of the Dnepropetrovsk hydroelectric power station. DneproGES is the greatest victory of the Leninist policy of the party.

Residential buildings, barracks, clubs and shops are being built for the builders of the Palace of Soviets. At the second construction site, the construction of houses with a volume of 9000 cubic meters is being completed. On Drovyanoy per. houses with a volume of 7000 cubic meters are being rebuilt, in addition, 4 standard houses and barracks are being built. Two-story barracks will be equipped at the third construction site. In the village of Fili, 10 two-story barracks are being built and in Khamovniki, three standard houses are being built. For the builders of the Palace of Soviets, a shop, a laundry room and a club are also being equipped.

October 15

Four powerful bakeries end with construction in Cherkizovo, on Paveletskaya embankment, near the GPP im. Kaganovich and on Bakuninskaya st. The total productivity of these factories is 680,000 kilograms of bread per day. For the complete mechanization of bread-baking in Moscow and the elimination of small handicraft bakeries, it remains to put into operation 3 more bakeries, which are being built on Butyrskaya Street, in Maryina Roshcha (near the Kalibr plant) and in the Stalin district. the completion of construction and the start-up of these bakeries are scheduled for the first half of 1933.

October 16

A powerful sports and recreation base is being equipped for the winter on the Lenin Hills. A ski station for a thousand pairs of skis will be opened here. 4 mountains are adapted for skiing and sledding with control. The first forty-meter ski jump in the Union is being equipped on the Lenin Hills. Educational work with beginner skiers and skaters is being widely developed.

The 20th of October

The Central Museum of Railway Transport (near the Krestovskaya Zastava) has been open since yesterday for tours and visitors. The exhibits of the museum reflect the latest achievements in technology and contain all the elements of the reconstruction of railway transport in connection with the growth of socialist construction. The museum is open from 12:00 to 6:00. daily. The entrance is free.

22 of October

Five new tram lines. The construction of five new tram lines has been completed – Syromyatnicheskaya, Rostokinskaya, Preobrazhensko-Semenovskaya, and lines connecting the village of Sokol with the plant named after. Voikov and Likhobory with Koptev. The total length of these routes is about 29 km. Now the electrical wiring is coming to an end. These lines will be open to traffic in three to four days.

October 23

Reconstruction of Sverdlov Square begins in November by the green building trust. The squares on the square will be re-planned and landscaped. The reconstruction will be completed in 1933.

The production of electric irons was launched by the scrap shop of the Moscow Electrokombinat. Distribution of sweets and eggs.
