Deputy activity regarding the return to the school of military affairs is overgrown with details. The Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg believes that it is not necessary to stop only at the NVP – elements of military training should be included in physical education lessons, such as grenade throwing, the Zarnitsa game and cross-country skiing … And the Crimean senator Olga Kovtidi, known for her initiative to tighten the rules appeal, so that scoliosis and high myopia are not an “excuse”, suggests that schools be militarized altogether. Topographic reconnaissance, assistance in case of injury, guards, fire and combat training – not a complete list of what, according to the deputy, should be taught at school.

“I consider the abolition of basic military training in schools to be sabotage, it is necessary,” says Kovitidi. Therefore, according to the parliamentarian, in addition to all of the above, children still need military training, trips to military units, the study of trenches and trenches, the ability to draw a map with azimuths.

A week earlier, State Duma Vice Speaker Boris Chernyshov approached the Minister of Education with a proposal to return NVP to school as a separate subject. “We are obliged to restore good traditions in the education system,” Chernyshov said. The reaction of the school community was ambiguous, but the most important thing is that the topic “Military Affairs” is already in the OBZh course.

In St. Petersburg, deputies of the United Russia faction turned to Mikhail Mishustin with a similar proposal. According to the majority of the deputies of the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly, military training in the framework of the subject “Fundamentals of Life Safety” (OBZH) is now insufficient, “the study of military disciplines has been reduced to a minimum.” And, they say, recruits are not ready. There was no lack of nostalgia. It was proposed to reform physical education, returning there “military-applied sports.” That is, crosses for endurance, elements of hand-to-hand combat, an obstacle course and military games like “Eaglet” and “Zarnitsa”. Throw a dummy grenade, learn first aid techniques…

The most experienced remember that physical education and NVP, where you had to come in a protective uniform, were about the same 30 years ago. Putting on a gas mask, throwing a grenade, cross-obstacle, assembling and disassembling a Kalashnikov assault rifle for a while. Attempts to revive all this have been made before. In 2019, Duma members, supported by the Rostec Corporation, came up with a similar initiative, the idea was even approved by the then Minister of Education Olga Vasilyeva.

At the same time, neither then nor even now do the ideas of militarizing the school curriculum meet with general approval. And not only because the deputies of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg are the few who remember with warmth how they threw wooden grenades and ran around with the calculation. Experts call the return of the NVP inexpedient – firstly, because with stale gas masks and scary mannequins it will not be possible to captivate modern teenagers with military romance. In addition, there is nothing similar in the Federal State Educational Standards, the new educational standards that came into force in 2022. And they have been preparing for several years. And if you can change them, how to squeeze one more subject into a school schedule overloaded to the brim? “Barely the line with “Conversations about the main thing” was spread out, the lessons were smashed, in a secondary school there are 7-8 lessons, where else to put NVP?”, the head teacher of a school in Moscow is perplexed.

At the same time, a poll conducted by a private university showed that not all parents are alien to the idea of ​​military affairs in schools. 50% of the respondents, in general, were in favor. Moreover, 19% want NVP to be a separate discipline, 33% see it as an elective. And another 48% of respondents spoke out against the introduction of NVP and “militarized” physical education at school.
