Almost 5,000 beds will be allocated in civilian hospitals in 11 constituent entities of Russia from June 1 for the wounded during a special military operation in Ukraine. This was stated by Deputy Head of the Main Military Medical Directorate of the RF Ministry of Defense Alexander Sergoventsev. According to him, the need arose due to the increased workload of military hospitals.

“Given that the special operation has been going on for almost 500 days, the workload of military medical organizations has increased, this is natural. We appealed to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, and, according to the instructions, no later than June 1, we will be allocated 5 thousand beds in 11 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, ”said Mr. Sergoventsev at a meeting of the All-Russian Coordinating Council of Commissioners for Human Rights (quoted from TASS).

According to him, many of the wounded need to be re-hospitalized to continue treatment after “high-tech operations.” The allocation of beds in the regions will allow “unloading” places in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov and Sevastopol in order to accept citizens for re-treatment.

In December 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the creation of a body to oversee the rehabilitation of wounded military personnel in the regions. The working group on the issues of the special operation explained that the rehabilitation of the participants in the special operation would be organized in a “one-stop shop” format: a serviceman applies to one institution, which subsequently provides him with full support.
