Russian Ambassador to the UK Andrei Kelin said that the tanks that the West is supplying to Ukraine are not a threat to Russia, unlike the long-range weapons promised by London.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, he noted that Western countries have refrained from supplying such weapons or have said they will refrain, with the exception of the UK, which says directly that it intends to provide long-range weapons to the Ukrainian army.

According to the diplomat, long-range weapons are a serious threat to Russia, as they can strike at targets that are far from the front line. He suggested that these weapons would be used against civilian objects. Kelin recalled that the systems already transferred by Western countries are being used to shell civilian targets in the Donbass.

In order to prevent such a threat, Russia will be forced to move deep into Ukraine, pushing the front line further. According to the diplomat, Western countries, by providing long-range weapons, are themselves destroying Ukraine.

The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin also stated that the more long-range ammunition will come to Ukraine, the further Russia will move the threat away from its borders.
