NATO to send additional forces to reinforce KFOR in Kosovo

The North Atlantic Alliance has decided to send an additional multinational battalion to Kosovo to assist the NATO Force for Kosovo (KFOR) stationed at the site. This is stated in the statement of the command of the allied joint forces of NATO in Naples.

“In connection with the recent riots and the wounding of 30 fighters [миссия] NATO KFOR issued an order for the deployment of operational standby forces in the Western Balkans, ”the text of the message says.

In addition, the KFOR command emphasized that the multinational battalion was ordered to increase the readiness of units in order to strengthen existing units if necessary.

A day earlier, protests erupted in northern Kosovo and Metohija over elections held in late April in four municipalities. As a result, a military contingent of the Western military bloc clashed with the Serbs in the municipality of Zencan.
