Named monuments that may appear on 500 rubles

Sights that may appear on the new banknote of 500 rubles have become known. The list was published by the Bank of Russia.

In total, more than 60 sights of the North Caucasian Federal District were proposed.

“The final list for the front side included cultural, historical and natural objects of Pyatigorsk. Among the leaders are the sculpture of the Eagle on the Hot Mountain, the monument to Mikhail Lermontov, the gazebo of the Aeolian harp,” the Central Bank said in a statement.

On the reverse side, Mount Elbrus, the Derbent fortress or the tower complexes of Vovnushki and Targim in Ingushetia may appear. They are the ones who get the most votes.

Experts also suggest depicting the Arc de Triomphe in Stavropol, Grozny City, the National Library of Chechnya, the largest azimuth telescope in Arkhyz in Eurasia, the Memorial of Memory and Glory in Nazran and other sights on the banknote. The Central Bank noted that all the proposed symbols are significant and suitable for banknote decoration.

Artists from the Bank of Russia and Goznak will prepare sketches, and the final decision will be made by the Board of Directors of the regulator.
