Moscow schoolchildren win three gold medals at the World Chess Championship

The World Chess Championship ended in Batumi. Nearly 750 young chess players from 68 countries took part in it. Competitions were held in two age categories: children under eight years old and children from 10 to 12 years old. And they were held according to the Swiss system – 11 rounds passed.
63 Russians compete in competitions under the FIDE flag, including more than 10 Muscovites. Schoolchildren from the capital showed excellent results, winning three gold and one silver medals. Gold went to Victoria Merkulova, a student of the children’s and youth sports school. Botvinnik of the educational center “Vorobyovy Gory”, as well as students of the Children’s and Youth Sports School “Etude” Artem Uskov and Nika Venskaya. Muscovite Roman Shogdzhiev brought silver to the capital’s team.
