Russia, in the face of external pressure, needs to ensure technological independence from the use of foreign software (software), Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at the strategic session “On import substitution of software in industries.”

“The President instructed us to ensure technological independence from the use of foreign software, to stimulate demand for our products. This is very important today in the face of external pressure. We have a lot of talented developers, we select the best of them and, of course, we will provide them, which we are already doing today, with maximum system support, ”said Mishustin (quote according to RIA Novosti).

Since the beginning of the special operation in Ukraine, Russian users have begun to experience difficulties using the App Store and Google Play services. The software of Russian banks that fell under Western sanctions was removed from the app stores, users cannot pay for subscriptions with cards issued in Russia.

On behalf of Mishustin, the RuStore store was created, the decision was due to fears that the App Store and Google Play would stop working in Russia due to Western sanctions. It was developed by VK with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development. Another Russian store, NashStore, was developed by the Digital Platforms autonomous non-profit organization.
