Mishustin expects the economy to return to growth "in a little more than a year"

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin believes that the Russian economy will return to strong growth "in a little more than a year." In his opinion, this will be affected by the reorientation of trade flows.

“We expect that in a little more than a year the economy will return to strong growth. And in 2024-2025, the gross domestic product will continue to grow, primarily due to an increase in domestic demand - consumer and investment - and due to the implementation of strategic priorities. This includes the development of transport and logistics infrastructure, taking into account the reorientation of export-import flows,” Mr. Mishustin said at the plenary session of the Caspian Economic Forum. The event is broadcast by the Russian government in YouTube.

Russia's GDP in the second quarter of 2022, according to Rosstat, decreased by 4.1%. Ministry of Economy of Russia in September predictedthat at the end of the year the economic decline will be 2.9%. FocusEconomics macroeconomic consensus forecast assumes the fall Russian GDP this year by 7%.
