Ministry of Justice added Viasna activists to the register of individuals-foreign agents

The Ministry of Justice of Russia added to the list of foreign agents. It included the coordinator of the movement “Spring” Bogdan Lytvyn and his activist Tymofiy Martynenko. The reason for adding to the list is called “carrying out political activities”, and in the details of foreign sources – Ukraine.
According to Mediazona (recognized as a foreign agent), Timofey Martynenko is a former press secretary of Navalny’s Rostov headquarters (a recognized extremist and banned organization).
September 30 St. Petersburg Prosecutor’s Office applied to the court with a demand to recognize the Vesna movement as extremist and ban it. According to the department, the movement creates conditions for destabilizing the social and socio-political situation in Russia, and also “forms public opinion about the need for a change of power in the Russian Federation.” In May 2022, Roskomnadzor blocked the Vesna website.
