Ministry of Internal Affairs: over 80,000 residents of new regions received Russian passports

The head of the Main Directorate for Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Valentina Kazakova, said during a briefing in Moscow that the number of residents of the LPR and DPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions who received Russian passports after these regions became part of the Russian Federation had reached several tens of thousands.
“After the entry of the four subjects already mentioned into the Russian Federation, in accordance with the legislation, more than 80,000 people received passports of a citizen of the Russian Federation,” Kazakova specified.
She also noted that earlier, on the basis of a special presidential decree, since 2019, more than 1 million 100 thousand residents of Donbass have acquired Russian citizenship.
