Ministry of Internal Affairs assigned car codes to new regions of Russia

The Russian authorities assigned car codes 80, 81, 84 and 85 to the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, respectively. The order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on assigning codes to subjects is posted on portal legal information.
The document also notes that codes 88 and 94 are now assigned to foreign territories served by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, before the adoption of the changes, those codes that were assigned to new regions were distributed to these territories. The text does not explain which territories are referred to.
After establishing control over the regions mentioned above, which the international community continues to consider as part of Ukraine, the Russian authorities launched the process of integrating the subjects through the inclusion of local telecom operators in the Russian numbering plan “+7”.
The Russian leadership continues to consider the Kherson region a region of the Russian Federation, included in its structure on September 30, despite the fact that after the withdrawal of the Russian army from Kherson, it actually lost control over the regional center. November 12 in Kherson started functioning of the Ukrainian authorities.
