Metropolitan of the UOC Onufry arrived to Zelensky because of the situation with the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

The Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Onufry, and other top hierarchs of the UOC arrived at the office of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to meet with him. It is reported on the website of the UOC.
“Members of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, headed by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry, arrived at the office of the President of Ukraine in order to convey the position of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to the leadership of the state,” the message says.
It is noted that the members of the Holy Synod wrote an appeal to Zelensky, in which they decided to explain to him the situation “as it really is.” The clergy believe that Zelensky is being told false information about the UOC.
Also, representatives of the UOC said that they pay tribute to the believers of the UOC, who are in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. “The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is the Church of Patriots, the Church of the Ukrainian people, and there is no need to fence off the citizens of Ukraine with fences,” the UOC believes.
