Metal on the LME rises in price amid reports of a possible ban on imports from Russia


Agency Bloomberg reported that the London Metal Exchange (LME) is preparing to launch a discussion on a possible ban on blocking the supply of Russian metals. Against the backdrop of this news, the main exchange positions began to rise in price: prices for aluminum grew by more than 7.3% ($2279/ton), for nickel - by 5% ($22,889/ton).

By 15:38 Moscow time, the cost of metals on the British stock exchange began to decline. Ton aluminum traded for $2124, ton nickel — $21,805. The price also went up by 1%. copper — up to $7422 per ton.

In March, representatives of the LME stated that do not intend impose a ban on trading in Russian metals on the stock exchange, since the imposition of sanctions is the competence of the authorities. This week it became known that the European Union develops new restrictions on the import of Russian metallurgical products.
