Medvedev spoke about economic relations between the US and Europe

Relations between the United States and the European Union may seriously deteriorate due to the economic policy of Washington, refusing its obligations, declared Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev in his Telegram channel.

“It seems that the marriage between the United States and Europe has every chance of ending in a dirty scandal and a dreary division of jointly acquired property. The reason is a clear economic infidelity,” he wrote.

Medvedev explained that the United States creates all conditions for the integration of European companies, encouraging them to forget about the interests of Europe itself. Because of the sanctions, it is becoming increasingly difficult for European businesses that have lost access to the Russian market to work in their own countries, he believes, so he has no choice but to “bask in the arms” of the United States. At the same time, Washington does not intend to share profits, the deputy chairman of the Security Council is sure, and he is not interested in the opinion of the EU.

“So believe after that rich patrons. Once – and removed Europe from the content. Treated like a street girl,” he said.

EU countries could start pursuing their own independent policies, but their leaders are unlikely to have the courage to do so, Medvedev concluded.

Last week’s edition of Politico reported about dissatisfaction with the EU authorities with the actions of the White House, in particular, they accuse the United States of enriching itself through hostilities in Ukraine. According to the newspaper, the European authorities are not happy with the fact that Washington is profiting from the conflict, while the EU countries are suffering. The EU, among other things, is dissatisfied with subsidies to support “green” business in the United States and taxes introduced by Biden.

These measures, according to politicians, threaten EU industry and restrict trade in Europe. The interlocutors of the publication noted that the lack of awareness of the United States about the consequences of decisions for the EU is a “serious problem.”

After the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine on February 24, Western countries imposed large-scale sanctions against the Russian Federation and began to provide financial and military support to Ukraine. In early October, the EU adopted the eighth package of sanctions, the main measure of which was to limit the cost of oil. At the same time, the European authorities say they have already begun to develop the next package of sanctions. On November 24, the head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, announced that the EU is actively working on new restrictions against the Russian Federation.
