Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev believes that one of the results of the military operation in Ukraine should be the creation of a “sanitary zone” around the country. According to him, such a zone will prevent the use of weapons against Russian territories “at medium and short distances.”

According to Dmitry Medvedev, in the course of hostilities, all measures must be taken to protect all Russian regions. “We need to achieve all the goals that have been set to protect our territories. That is, throw it out of there (from Ukraine,— “b”) of all foreigners in the broadest sense of the word,” Mr. Medvedev said.

“It is necessary to create an ambulance zone that will not allow the use of any types of weapons that operate at medium and short distances, that is, 70-100 kilometers, to demilitarize, if we talk about the military component,” said Mr. Medvedev (the fragment is posted in his Telegram channel). If this is not enough, then, according to the former president, “other decisions” must be made. “If you have to go to Kyiv, then you have to go to Kyiv. If you have to go to Lvov, then you have to go to Lvov in order to exterminate this infection,” he said.

Earlier, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia said that the conduct of a military operation in Ukraine rallied Russians, and also got rid of illusions about the “democratic” West. He accused the United States and other Western allies of Ukraine of prolonging the conflict through the supply of weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, he accused Western countries of pursuing their personal interests in the context of military support for Ukraine.
