Media: two Russians who left the country on a boat were detained in Alaska

Law enforcement agencies of the United States detained two men, citizens of Russia, on the island of St. Lawrence, Alaska, reports Anchorage Daily News. The men sailed to the island by boat. According to the state governor Mike Dunleavy, the detainees were sent to the city of Anchorage.

“There were two of them, they were detained in Gambel. This came as a surprise to us. We don’t expect a steady stream of people,” Dunleavy said.

According to the publication, given the tense relationship between the United States and Russia, the incident was reported to the Department of Homeland Security. No other details are given.

Against the background of the announcement in Russia of partial mobilization on the land borders of the country – with Georgia, Kazakhstan, Finland and other countries – queues of those wishing to leave the country formed. The flow of those leaving decreased after the authorities set up recruiting stations at the borders. Russian attempts to leave the country by sea have not yet been reported.
