Media: Elizabeth II wrote a letter that cannot be opened until 2085

The late Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain left a letter to the people of Sydney, Australia that cannot be opened before 2085. The document was written in 1986 to celebrate the restoration of the Queen Victoria Building (QVB).

According to the publication new york post, the building was erected in 1898 in the part of great-great-grandmother Elizabeth. This is one of the most famous buildings in Sydney, located in the heart of the city.

Attached to the sealed letter are instructions for the Lord Mayor of Sydney.

“On a suitable day to be chosen by you in the year 2085, could you open this envelope and convey to the citizens of Sydney my message to them,” wrote Elizabeth II.

What the document says is not even known to those closest to the late monarch. She may be thanking the people of Sydney for saving a building that was being demolished to build a parking lot.

In 1986, a Malaysian company signed a 99-year lease on the structure, extending its contract until 2085.

The letter is currently in storage in a closed domed area located at the top of the Queen Victoria Building.

Elizabeth, who became queen in 1952, 16 times came to Australia. The first time she visited there just two years after the coronation, becoming the first reigning monarch to set foot on the land of this country. In 1963, she returned with her husband, Prince Philip. For all the time of her visits, more than one million residents of Sydney were able to see the queen.
